History:
When hippies Nick Cranston and Paul Cymbalist hid out in an abandoned Tailor shop, they hung Nicks’ wet clothes on an old tailors’
dummy to keep from shrinking. Abandoned for several months by an old radiator the mannequin was eventually hit by lightning, giving him life, super strength and speed. Upon his “birth”, brother power was kidnapped by a circus and forced to be in their freak show. He later escaped and met another hippie named Cindy, who gave him his face as well as the nickname, Pow. Brother Power even though incredibly strong was a devout pacifist and would only fight as a last measure due to the hippie culture he was exposed to. He started going to school, but due to his strange appearance and high intellect began teaching himself.
He made a run for congress with the slogan “Brother Power for Flower Power”, getting jobs for his hippie friends at ACME Widget Factory. At the factory he becomes the archenemy of accountant Lord Sliderule. He outwits Lord Sliderule and even gets a promotion for coming up with an idea on how to use left handed employees at the factory.
“Pow” tries to stop a rocket that has been sabotaged by one of his first enemies “Mad Dawg” to look like it was sent by the hippies, and becomes trapped inside. Upon learning this, Governor Ronald Reagan decides the world would be a better place without his hippie ideals and fires the rocket into space. Twenty years later “Pow” was found by Firestorm and freed with new abilities. He could now possess any humanoid object and shape it to his image. He could also summon several humanoid objects and form a giant version of himself. During this time period it came to light that he was an artificial life elemental much like Swamp Thing was a plant elemental and Animal Man was an animal elemental.
While looking for Cindy whom he grew to love, he got a job as a “geek’ in a sideshow biting the heads off chickens. He eventually found Cindy who was working as a prostitute and had to possess her favorite doll because his body was destroyed in a fire. They moved to Gotham and opened a toy store, happiness however was short lived do to the store being burned down by arsonists.

Interesting Facts:
The series was canceled after issue two even though issue three was in the bag due to the fact DC executives hated the character despite decent sales. Even though Joe Simon created the character he had a “ghost” artist “Al Bare” draw the book before it was canceled. Brother Power the Geek later showed up in in the 1990s for Swamp Thing annual #5 written by Neil Gaiman.
