UPDATED: Is JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT BATMAN in JUSTICE LEAGUE?
Earlier this week, Zack Snyder strongly hinted at the possibility of his movie Man of Steel would be connected to Warner Bros. upcoming Justice League film with Henry Cavill has Superman. Now reports are coming in that Warners has already cast their Batman and he just might be (SPOILER WARNING for those of you that haven’t seen The Dark Knight Rises) the newest guy to don the cape and cowl.
Website Hit-Fix is reporting that Levitt will indeed be Batman in the Justice League movie!
According to sources, Joseph Gordon-Levitt absolutely will be appearing in “Justice League” as the new Batman.
That’s not all though, the site goes on to say that they have been doing a little digging on their own and that Levitt might put on the suit earlier than that film!
Now here’s where things get interesting. The more insistent the drumbeat has become, the more poking around I’ve been doing, and it’s looking like we may see Gordon-Levitt in the suit earlier than that. They’re a long way from filming anything “Justice League” related, but they appear to be solidifying deals for Gordon-Levitt and, potentially, at least one other actor from the Nolan films to do… something.
What other character from the Nolan franchise could they be talking about? The only real possibility would be Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon. Gordon and Blake are the only choices you could have from those films.
If Hit-Fix is right, then it means we could see these two characters in some sort of scene in the Man of Steel that would setup a Justice League movie. Now let’s speculate a little further and ask this question. If Nolan’s Bat-verse is part of the overall larger DC movie-verse, where does that leave Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern? How long before Christian Bale is brought back as Batman? Thoughts?
UPDATE: According to website Hollywood.com, Gordon-Levitt’s representatives are saying that the rumor is simply not true, but keep in mind that something this big, Warner Bros. would want to keep everyone on the same page with a “Not True” statement right now. I guess we will find out next year one way or the other…
